Dear family and friends
Today Regina and I met with the Director of Rehabilitation and Grayson's Case Manager at the Centre for Neuro Skills for our monthly patient conference. During the conference we heard reports from each of the therapists that work with Grayson. Today's meeting had some special additional significance as we are putting together the plan for a transition to home care – a plan that is being executed almost immediately.
While Grayson continues his very slow improvement, the level of therapy investment is no longer considered "medically necessary" as the rate of improvement has significantly slowed. As a result Grayson will be reduced to 3 days of therapies per week on a path to transition to complete home care over time. The practical difference here is that therapy is covered by insurance and home care is not. Very early on after Grayson's injury we were informed that this day would come, and it is now upon us. We will be interviewing agency care givers next week, and we expect to hire on site care here at home two days a week before month end.
I have said it before, but change like this is very stressful. Change also helps us grow. Our faith in God gives us the strength to cope with the stress of change. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11).
Have faith and hang on for the ride!
Pax!
Brant
Our prayers are with you as you make the transition into home care. Each day will unfold some new challenge, I'm sure. I wish we could help in a more direct way, but we will not fail to pray.
