Day 4 - Grayson’s Condition
Dear family and friends
Status of Grayson as of 10:00 PM on Thursday
It is hard to describe today as anything other than frustrating. Except for reflex actions, Grayson was mostly non-responsive today. It is clear that the journey to recovery will be long indeed.
We are told that neurology patients wax and wane during their journey, and that gives us hope, but it is still hard to watch Grayson just lie there. We know that every day of his life has been a gift to us, and we are grateful that we were able to enjoy that gift. We now continue to hope and pray with you that we get to enjoy it a bit longer.
Pax!
Brant

Dear Brant and Regina,
ReplyDeleteWe hope you feel our prayers and love from Maui -- Grayson is a true gift and we know he was given to the best family to help him with his many challenges in this life.
Wishing him all good blessings for the quickest recovery possible.
Much Love and Aloha to the whole Reed Family,
Doreen and Michael XO
Dear Brant and Regina,
ReplyDeleteAlthough I have never officially met you, I have heard of your loving and great nature from both Grayson and Austin. I work at Bovard where Austin works and where Grayson used to work and he definitely frequented our various apartments and houses to hang out during his time at USC. He is one of the people I got closest to. He gives the best hugs :)
I wish you all an easy journey with his recovery and nothing but the best. Once you, and he, are able to receive visitors I would like to pay you and him a visit, but not before of course.
I'll be checking in on the blog daily to see how he is progressing.
With love,
Meirav
Speaking as someone who has immediate and daily interactions with the whims of "neurological"... yes, "wax and wane" is a polite, and extremely accurate, turn of phrase to describe the journey. The good news is that the nervous system is self-correcting. The bad news is that it takes its own sweet time and doesn't really care how long anyone is waiting for it to do its thing. The other good news is that Grayson himself is persistent, inventive, and resourceful to the core, three virtues that'll get stand in him very good stead on this particular journey.
ReplyDeleteThe brain is a wonderful and surprising part of the human body. As a brain trauma survivor, I can say that it's been a blessing to know that God's ways are wondrous.
