Day 604 – Grayson’s Journey

Dear family and friends,

If only we could see what goes on inside Grayson's brain. What makes him so focused and responsive on some days and unfocused and wiggly on others?

Among the many things we did together today, Grayson helped me gather trash and change his sheets. Most of the day, however, he was unable to keep his body still. He kept leaping out of his chair and wandering even when engaging in favorite activities. Another of the signs of what I call neurological noise is when he bites down hard on his toothbrush. Today was not a good day to be his toothbrush. As I put Grayson to bed this evening, I bent down to give him a hug. He suddenly raised his head up and bashed me hard in the nose.

None of this is intentional it's just one of the rhythms we expect. We learn to diffuse or redirect some activities and we learn to duck to keep his elbows from making contact.

Life with Grayson is a dance even when we don't feel like dancing.

Peace,

Regina
