Day 795 – Grayson’s Journey
Dear family and friends
Grayson had a good day today. One of his Christmas presents was a large gingerbread man (about 18 inches long) with a decorating kit. Grayson spent time decorating his gingerbread man (after pausing to devour a leg) as an activity today. He consumed about half of his efforts over the course of the day. There is still more for him to enjoy tomorrow!
Regina and I talked about Grayson becoming more and more non-verbal. It is getting increasingly difficult for us to get him to use words to express himself. This video from January 30, 2010 was taken just a few days after his arrival at CNS in Bakersfield. He was reading a script that we gave him and he is difficult to understand, but he read it out loud. He is not able to do this today. While he has improved in many areas, speech is not one of those areas.
Another brain injury challenge.
Pax!

I don't understand it. Maybe he can tell he isn't speaking clearly and just decided to stop. Praying for you as you and Regina move forward.
ReplyDeleteI could understand most of the video, perhaps because I am someone who does not always enunciate my words clearly myself. Will be praying his verbal skills improve.
