Day 247 – Grayson’s Journey

Dear family and friends

Today was another good day for Grayson. Today he had no problem behavior at all. He was also alert and completed all of his tasks with encouragement. He prepared his dinner with help from his residential assistant (RA). After dinner he took out the trash and checked the mail.

Tonight was Karaoke Night at the rec center! Grayson has not participated much in this activity for the past few weeks, but he joined in tonight. There are several younger patients that have recently joined the community, and they were there in force this evening. It was loud and, as Grayson's RA said, the room was "quite chaotic". Hearing this, I was concerned because Grayson is not usually comfortable in chaos. Grayson did not sing, but he was calm and sat and laughed at the antics of these guys. He did just fine, spending his time there without a problem and earning the following statement from his RA – "I was proud of him this evening!"

Meds, snack, brush teeth and PJ's were the order of business when they returned to the apartment. Grayson turned on his CD player to listen to an audio book, and snuggled in for the night.

I'd say that this was a good day!

Pax!

  1. Speaking as someone who's also neurologically averse to chaos... that's huge. When chaos moves from "unbearable" to "humorous"... that's a very big step. Wonderful news!
